Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

June 25, 2011

Greeting members of New Era Progressive Missionary Baptist State Convention of Alabama Inc.!

It is indeed my privilege to write to you today. My prayer is that this letter finds each of you enjoying the full and rich blessings of God. However, if this is for you a season of trials, know that the prayers of the saints are with you and we stand available and willing to aid you in whatever way that we can.

The purpose of this letter is to serve to remind you of the upcoming annual session of our great state convention July 25th – 28th, 2011. This year all roads lead to Birmingham, were the very fine members of the Greater New Antioch Baptist Church are making ready to host us in grand fashion. Just as in the last couple of years, this gathering of our Convention serves for a two-fold purpose. First, to educate and in the training of our members through our Congress. And secondly, the work of our general convention.

There are however a few thing that I am asking from each of you in preparation for our coming together next month. First, in our March Board meeting, each of you received cups for “Quarters Across the Waters.” The annual session is the time for you to turn in those funds. If you are having a hard time filling the cups, may I suggest that you use you various church ministries (Youth, Children, Ushers, etc…) to accomplish the task of filling each of your cups. Giving leadership to this effort is Vise-President, Dr. Winfred Thomas. If you have questions you may feel free to contact him on this matter.

Secondly, this year due to the April 27th storms, we did not have our annual “Mission Emphasis.” Many of you still have ticket money that you have not turned in to our Chairman of Finance, Dr. W. J. Gilmore Jr. I encourage those who may still have ticket money to get that in as soon as possible. Also we do not want to neglect the residents of our adopted family group home, Children’s Village. I am asking the each of you would bring a special offering to the annual session so that we can be a blessing to them as they seek to carry out their commitment to providing a loving Christian environment for children who are less fortunate.

Lastly, as many of you may already be aware, this is an election year and we are committed to doing things descent and in order. So I have appointed a special committee lead by Pastor Robert Alexander Jr. to oversee this matter. You should have already received the instructions for nominations, as well as the rules for the voting process. Any questions on this matter should be directed to Pastor Alexander, or a member of the Rules Committee.

So remember, save the date!  Spread the word!  July 25-28, 2011, Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, 2900 Avenue G, Birmingham, Alabama.

In His Service,

Dr. Timothy J. Woods Sr.

President
